One customization we chose was to have a larger curved track on the foredeck. The Balance 526 is known for having a high aspect ratio self taking jib. We believe that extending and curving the track will make the small foretriangle sails (jib, staysail (J3), storm jib) more efficient. Still requires pin changes on the cars but not a barber hauler.
This required Balance / Nexus to move two hatches forward, make them one size smaller, and reinforce the deck.
This is an example of how great it has been to work with Balance / Nexus and Du Toit Yacht Design. We worked out the concept, Du Toit the design, and Nexus the additional costs in a very straight forward process. We will post an update on how well it works in December when we do out sea trials.
We have chosen the Balance 526 as our sailing platform and named her Norhi. We have purchased hull #15 and the intended completion date is now December 2022. This is a photo of our actual boat. Since this was sent to us everything has gotten very real. Super exciting.
The intent was and is to own and sail a safe, comfortable, and fast ocean sailing catamaran. We believe the Balance 526 checks those boxes and many more. Blue Diamond was launched in November of 2020 and these videos are great examples of the 526 line.
Our first goal is to sail the boat from South Africa to the Caribbean in November of 203. Race the the boat in the Cape2Rio and then to the Caribbean for some additional racing and cruising.
